Festival Fun…

The 2011 Japanese Cultural Festival was held at the Collingwood Town Hall.  I had the pleasure again this year to be apart of the wonderful celebrations of everything Japanese.  This year the donations and money raised were donated in support of the Earthquake victims.

It was a fantastic day and the crowds exceeded last years attendance.  I held a Haiku writing workshop stall which was lots of fun and by lunch-time, the workshop attendance list was full.  Thirty-five classes in total which I felt, was a success.  I have been asked to attend the next festival in November 2012.  Delightfully Haiku was on sale and copies were swept up by haiku lovers.

The music, dancers, costumes and atmosphere was very exciting, the town hall was buzzing.  Thanks to all those supporters who turned up to say Hi.

Japanese Cultural Festival…

I attended the Japanese Cultural Festival on the weekend, 27th November and held Haiku Poetry workshops.   The festival was bustling with activity and it was fantastic to see so many people turn up and enjoy the workshops and entertainment.  Thankyou to all of the staff who were so helpful and friendly.  I now look forward to next years festival.

Please pop in during the week to read posts about the festival.

Writing journals

Writing journals are a ‘necessity’ writing tool.  Writers carry journals in their handbag or satchel with them at all times to jot down ideas and/ or work on story lines.  Learning to write Haiku begins with a writing journal.  Jotting down things you see everyday, thoughts, ideas, feelings and lives captured moments.  Jot down these things as they come to you and then work on expanding on them.  Be descriptive and use lots of details.  The poem comes later.  Work on mastering the technique of jotting down notes and expanding on that with details.

This beautiful hardcover journal is available via direct shopping cart:

Don’t forget our online haiku class starting 8/9 and the 15/9 at 8pm. Email jelli_beanzbooks@aol.com for more details.
